“The contempt of death is not at odds with the cult we profess. She is present in our party, our games, our thoughts. Dying and killing are ideas that we rarely leave. Death is seductive. The fascination exerted on us perhaps comes from our secrecy and the fury with which we break it. The pressure of our vitality, constrained to express itself in ways that betray, explains the deadly nature, aggressive or suicidal of our explosions. When we burst, also  we touch the highest point of tension, we touch the vibrant apex of life. And there, at the height of frenzy, we feel the vertigo. Death attracts us. On the other hand, death avenges us from life, naked of all its vanities and pretensions, it becomes clean bones and a ghastly grin. In a closed-end world, where everything is death, the only valuable thing is death. But we affirm something negative. Sugar skulls, China paper skeletons, colorful fireworks, our performances are always popular mockery of life, affirming the nothingness and insignificance of human existence. We decorate our homes with skulls, eating Day of the Dead bread and bones, songs and jokes entertain us, laughing of Death, but all that familiar braggadocio does not excuse us from the question we all ask: what is the death? We have not invented a new response. And every time you ask us, we shrug our shoulders, what do I care about the death, if I do not care about life?”

Accept a war that has political interests, is pathetic, real wars are confronted with oneself.
